Formed in October 2003 Mother Trucker is the creation of Charles
Butler (Guitar), Thomas Moffat (Bass), James Davison (Drums) and
Christopher Scrivens (Guitar). Mother Trucker have tried to
solidify a sound with an instrumental barrage of
stoner-metal/post-rock with swift structural changes throughout the
songs, chugging riffs, noodling/twiddling guitars and crushing
drums. Drawing influences from Kyuss, Mogwai, Black Sabbath and
many more.

“Anyone who can write such punishing riffs deserves success” –
Metal Hammer (Demo of the month)

Haddonsfield Illinois – Goblin influenced 70’s horror film music,
slowed right down, giving it a very doomy feel (all done on synths
and a bass guitar) – complete with dialogue samples from such
films. Esquilax side project

ASVA + MISTRESS + ATAVIST

ASVA (members of Burning Witch/Mr.Bungle)
MISTRESS
ATAVIST

Asva is blowing through
town and taking the drone rock medium to new lows. Not your average
“doom” band, Asva’s saddlebags are filled with wooden chapel organs
and subharmonic drones. Their packs are stuffed with
electroacoustic sensibilities and hand-scribbled laments to the
alchemical stars – they rode through walls of electrostatic fuzz to
toll the mission bell on this side of the firmament – then they
smashed your piano to splinters just for the sound it makes. In
their wake nothing remains but tumbleweeds and twisters, dancing
pointlessly in ageless dusty darkness. Lead by former members of
SUNN 0))) and Burning Witch, the band features members of Secret
Chiefs 3, the Master Musicians of Bukkake, and Black Horse. Added
to the line-up of Asva was Trey Spruance (Secret Chiefs 3 / Mr.
Bungle) on guitar.

Formed in Birmingham during 1999, MISTRESS have released two albums
to date  “Mistress” and “The Chronovisor”  to rave
reviews and have gigged with the likes of NAPALM DEATH, MAYHEM,
ELECTRIC WIZARD, BOLT THROWER and EXTREME NOISE TERROR. Their
hard-to-pin-down sound comes across as a sickening
sludge/grind/doom hybrid, reminsicent of the early U.K. grind scene
of the late ’80s and early ’90s, and has been described as “a vile
musical bastard, a bilious, screaming, snot-faced sludge orphan
with all the taste and decorum of a sexual encounter in Wormwood
Scrubbs.”

WOLF EYES + ESQUILAX + BLACK GALAXY

In 1996 Wolf Eyes begins life as a single individual residing somewhere in the sprawling Metro Detroit labyrinth. Nate Young is Wolf Eyes, generating noises with electronics, programming, voice and whatever instrument he can (re)construct. Aaron Dilloway releases a few near-extinct cassettes of this initial Wolf Eyes incarnation on his Hanson imprint then he joins the group full-time, generating noises with guitar, tapes, electronics, horns, mouth and whatever instrument lies within an arm’s reach. Wolf Eyes (as two) tour and record incessantly. A steady stream of quick-to-vanish cassettes, split LP’s, lathe-cut records, and CD-R’s, flows into the general population.

Black Galaxy features Nicholas Bullen whose abrasive work in Napalm Death initiated a new musical genre known as ‘Grindcore’ and later a member of the dark, isolationist and dub-influenced Scorn. In collaboration with Simon Mabbutt they fuse cold and alien galactic soundscapes with minimal warped bass and glacial rhythmic underpinnings to create nocturnal sonorities.

Esquilax are a shiny party plastic new wave avante-garde pop terror group -possessed by Devo, raised by Agoraphobic Nosebleed.

Wig + Rik Cooper
Kris Ludford (ideal skates)

A series of installations and exhibitions exploring the relationship between art & architecture created by Kris Ludford, Rick Myers, Wig Worland & Rik Cooper, The Outcrowd, Curated and presented by Capsule.

Space Raiders
Space Raiders is an installation of skate – able structures that look at the symbiotic relationship between skateboarders and architecture. Featuring a display of specially commissioned ramps and blocks designed to work both as functional skate pieces and aesthetic sculptural forms built in response to the surrounding architecture.

Capsule
Since 1999 the Capsule duo of Lisa Meyer and Jenny Moore have been busy transforming Birmingham from a cultural backwater to one of the most important ports-of-call on the international experimental music circuit. Champions of all things avant-garde Capsule present a year round programme of live music, events, and exhibitions working with artists such as Shepard Fairey (GIANT) and presenting exhibitions with Lodown Magazine from Berlin and UK Skate Label Unabomber featuring Pete Fowler, Adam Neat and Toby Patterson and many others. Capsule are also the brains behind Supersonic Festival which this year features act such as Psychic TV, Rother & Moebius and Trevor Jackson  – 8th & 9th July @ The Custard Factory Birmingham

Rick Myers – FootPrintsInTheSnow
An ongoing personal project charting the artist?s thought processes and creative connections. Rick Myers presents a collection of limited edition posters, screen prints and paper sculptures housed in a portable wooden museum.

The Out Crowd
Initially formed amongst a group of friends, skateboarders, illustrators, image-makers and lurkers. The out crowd has taken on an organic, parasitic growth form, spanning continents and breaking cultural boundaries as more raw creators mutate to survive.

For this exhibition the Outcrowd explore the relationship between cities and their architecture and the way in which skaters interpret these often mundane surroundings to find a more exciting perspective. The city is their playground and inspiration, but it is also their undoing and downfall; broken boards, broken bones and broken dreams. On each broken board are depicted ideas and dreams, taking the destruction and turning it into something hopeful and fun.

Wig Worland & Rik Cooper
Wig Worland had been documenting skateboarding for over 20 years, with pictures now published all over the world. Working in collaboration with Graphic Designer and Skateboarder Rik Cooper, the two have created a series of prints that capture the essence of the skateboarders reliance on architecture as their playground.

THE ARM
+ support

“This is amazing – make no mistake! Truly amazing. Not only is their name wrong, but their music is so wrong it HAS to be right… what can I say? This is perhaps the most post-modern rock’n’roll music that’s ever been made.”
– BBC Radio

“Eardrum-shattering, technically awesome math rock; listen and become the coolest outcast at your school.” –Alternative Press

Raised on the champion streets of Baltimore, the OXES have grown over the last several years to become one of the most innovative and exciting bands recording and touring today. Earning every penny, the OXES have been heralded by the likes of John Peel, Shellac, WIRE (the band), the British press, and fans abound. The best part is the OXES epidemic has only begun.

Combining the energy of three very talented musicians in a pyramid of extremism, moderation, and jokes, the OXES have created a tri-force of rock’n’roll fury.
