Support Stitches and Hos

To celebrate the arrival and stay of the Jamaican and American Olympic teams in Birmingham for London 2012, Sara Fowles (long running Supersonic artist liaison, many of you will have also met this lovely lady on the door of many a Capsule gig) and Stitches and Hos will cover with knit graffiti the columns on the exterior of Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. A palette of six colours (red, blue, white, yellow, green and black) will be used to create the installation. The palette is derived from the colours used on both teams national flags and are also the same colours used in the Olympic rings logo.
To help finance this project the team guerilla knitting team are trying to raise £2500 to pay for activity in a pop up shop located in the Pavilions. The shop will be a relaxing central hub where anyone can come and contribute to the project by knitting a square or even a few rows. There will also be staff on hand to teach you the basics if you can’t already knit.

Studded leather and the diary of a mad man

Lots of great pieces have been added to the Home of Metal digital archive recently. Including Judas Priest stage costumes, direct from the band themselves. How they manage to perform in those is beyond us. There’s also a handwritten letter to a fan from Rob Halford, where he passionately declares his love for all things METAL, a gig journal from the most devoted Sabbath fan the Home of Metal team have met yet and handwritten lyrics from Ozzy’s ‘Diary of a Madman’ loaned by the album cover artist Krusher.

It’s so exiting to see these pieces from music history alongside precious fan memorabilia. And we want more! Upload images of your ticket stubs, photographs, prized records or tell us about your Heavy Metal memories and be part of this global music archive. To find out more, go here .
